Do I need an account to use DiffWeb?
No. There is no sign-up, no email and no phone number. Create a room, pick any display name or use a random one, and share the link.
How many people can join a room?
Each free room holds up to 5 people, including you. You can lock the room once everyone is in.
How long does a chat room last?
You choose when you create it: 15 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours or 24 hours. You can also end the chat for everyone at any time.
What happens when the chat ends?
Everyone loses access immediately, on every device. The invite link stops working and the messages are no longer shown to anyone in the room.
Are my messages encrypted?
Yes. Every room gets its own encryption key, and messages and files are encrypted before they are stored. Rooms are deleted automatically.
Can I share photos, videos and files?
Yes. You can send photos, videos, GIFs and documents. Photos are rebuilt to remove hidden location data, and dangerous file types are blocked.
Can I make a custom chat room link?
Yes. Choose a link like diffweb.com/r/your-room. Custom links always need a room password so strangers cannot walk in.
Is DiffWeb free?
Yes. Creating and joining private chat rooms is free.
